Our curriculum is built on the pillars of explicit vocabulary instruction, the integration of literacy across all content areas (Science, Social Studies, and beyond), and the strategic use of a student’s primary language as a resource, not a hurdle. This course culminates in a personal Action Research project to prove exactly what works in your unique classroom. Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will…

• Design and implement lessons using strategies matching the needs of English learners in the classroom.
• Implement scaffolds for content learning. 
• Facilitate structured writing activities, including the use of mentor texts and frames, to move students toward independent composition .
• Design equitable assessment and grading systems that measure content knowledge separately from language proficiency and provide data to determine teaching strategies.
• Establish a plan to develop a classroom culture that prioritizes student agency, effective behavior management, and parent engagement.
