Course Description:
This course helps K-6 educators, interventionists, instructional coaches, and administrators to design, collect and analyze fidelity data for Tier 2 interventions. Participants will learn how to track implementation integrity, monitor student progress, and use both data streams to make responsive instructional decisions. Special focus is placed on attendance, dosage, delivery quality, and instructional matches.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will…
- Participants will define and describe the core components of fidelity in Tier 2 interventions—structural, procedural, and instructional—and explain the purpose of tracking the “big four”: attendance, frequency, duration, and delivery quality.
- Participants will analyze fidelity and attendance logs to identify patterns of implementation, evaluate consistency across sessions, and interpret how these variables impact the effectiveness of Tier 2 supports for individual students and small groups.
- Participants will evaluate student progress monitoring data in conjunction with fidelity data to determine the extent to which an intervention was implemented as designed and to identify whether outcome trends are attributable to instructional delivery or fidelity breakdowns.
- Participants will apply decision rules using fidelity and progress monitoring data to determine whether to continue, intensify, or exit Tier 2 interventions, and will justify their decisions using multiple sources of evidence.
- Participants will design and customize fidelity monitoring tools (e.g., checklists, dashboards, team protocols) and develop a sustainable plan for embedding fidelity data review into existing team structures and decision-making systems.
